Baukultur festival Protracted urban development processes and tedious urban planning processes are always subject to particular scrutiny. In light of environmental, social and economical shifts, this is truer than ever before. Baukultur festivals can provide a creative and uniting process because they can tap into dynamic and well connected communities which try to find new approaches through a dialogue between experts and city dwellers. Mostly independently organised events give new momentum to urban development and regeneration. The architectural festival plan – forum for contemporary architecture in Cologne is such an example. The annual programme – always in the last september week – consists of workshops, symposiums, discussions, guided tours, as well as installations, interventions and exhibits.
